UGC creator rates are a puzzle for almost every beginner. Charge too little, and you're working for peanuts. Charge too much, and brands will choose someone else. Prices in the market vary widely: beginners often ask for a modest amount per video, while experienced creators with strong reviews charge much more.
Fortunately, there's a logical way to determine your price. In this article, you'll learn how to build your rate, when you can charge more, and how much you keep on UGC.NL after commission. With a calculation example, so you know exactly where you stand.
TL;DR
- On UGC.NL, you set your own rate with a minimum of €59 per package, and you keep 70% to 75% of it, depending on your rank.
- A good rate covers all your time: reading the briefing, preparing, filming, editing, communicating, and any revisions, not just the minutes you film.
- Extra hooks, more videos, a shorter delivery time, and extras like editing or a script are logical moments to increase your price.
- Your commission drops from 30% to 25% when you become a Trendsetter, with at least 25 completed assignments and an average of 4.7 stars.
Why UGC Creator Rates Vary So Much
A brand doesn't pay for thirty seconds of video, but for what that video delivers. A video that runs as an ad and sells is worth a lot to a brand. That's why rates vary: they depend on your experience, your quality, and what exactly you deliver.
The niche also plays a role. In crowded niches like beauty and fashion, competition is fierce. In niches with fewer active creators, like tech, pets, or recruitment, you can sometimes charge a higher price more quickly because a brand has fewer alternatives.
What doesn't determine your rate: your number of followers. With UGC, the brand uses your video on its own channels. You're selling your craftsmanship, not your reach.
Calculate Your Time First
Many beginners only account for the time they spend filming. But a project involves much more: reading the briefing, reviewing or writing the script, setting up the set, filming, editing, uploading, and communicating with the brand. For a physical product, there's also unpacking and confirming receipt.
Example
for one 30-second video with two hooks, you can easily spend three hours. If you want to earn €25 per hour, you need to keep €75 after commission. With a 30% commission, that means a package price of about €107.
Also account for revisions. If you offer three revisions per video, a project can take longer than planned. That should be reflected in your price.
The same goes for your delivery time. If you deliver in 1–2 days, you have to set other things aside. That's extra value for the brand, and a shorter delivery time justifies a higher price. If you offer 6–8 or 9–12 days, you can plan your work better, and the package can be slightly cheaper.
Rate Per Video, Per Hook, or Per Package?
Brands often think in terms of videos, but you work in hours. That's why it helps to build your price from components. The first video takes the most time: setting up your set, getting to know the product, and filming the body. Each additional video in the same package goes faster.
Extra hooks are even more efficient. A hook is just a different opening for the same video. You record a few extra seconds and edit them into the body. For the brand, an extra hook is valuable because it can test more variants in ads. For you, it takes little time. So charge a fair amount for it, but not the price of a complete video.
Example
your Basic package is one video with one hook. In Standard, you offer two videos with two hooks per video, for slightly less than twice the price of Basic. This way, Standard feels like a good deal for the brand, while you earn more per hour.
When entering your price in My Portfolio, you can see under You Receive directly how much you keep. Use that to align your packages.
What to Charge as a Beginner?
If you're just starting, you don't have reviews yet. Brands take a smaller risk if your price is competitive. On UGC.NL, €59 is the minimum for a package. Many creators start with a Basic package around that amount, with one video and one hook.
See those first assignments as an investment. Each completed assignment provides a review, fills your portfolio, and brings you closer to a higher rank. After a handful of satisfied clients, you can gradually increase your price.
Don't price yourself too low. An extremely low price can sometimes raise suspicion among brands looking for quality. Check out Find Creators: what are creators in your niche with a similar portfolio charging? This way, you can quickly see if your rate is in line with what brands are used to.
When to Increase Your UGC Rates?
You have your first reviews with four stars or more
You almost always deliver on time
You offer more hooks or videos per package
You deliver faster, for example in 1–2 days
You add extras like editing, voice-over, or raw content
Use your three packages wisely. Keep Basic accessible for new clients, make Standard your most chosen package, and put everything you can in Premium. This way, a brand can choose how much it wants to invest.
Does Script & Briefing include in your package? Then you write the script and briefing yourself. That's extra work and extra value for the brand, so include it in your price.
How Much Do You Keep on UGC.NL?
Rank | When | You Receive |
|---|---|---|
Explorer | New creator | 70% |
Rookie | From 1 completed assignment | 70% |
Rising Star | 10 assignments, average 4 stars | 72.5% |
Trendsetter | 25 assignments, average 4.7 stars | 75% |
Calculation Example
you sell a package for €100. As an Explorer or Rookie, you receive €70. If you're a Rising Star, that becomes €72.50, and as a Trendsetter, you keep €75. Over ten such assignments, the step from Explorer to Trendsetter earns you an extra €50 without raising your price. Delivering on time and collecting good reviews pays off twice: you're chosen more often, and you keep more per assignment.
The commission is calculated on the package price, excluding VAT. The service fees paid by the brand do not come out of your share. And if a brand uses a discount code, it comes off UGC.NL's commission. Your payout remains the same.
You get paid every Monday via Stripe for the assignments completed the previous week. The brand has paid in advance, so you never have to chase your money.
How Brands View Your UGC Rates
Brands compare. On Find Creators, they filter by price, niche, language, country, and rank. Your price is always next to other creators'. That doesn't mean you have to be the cheapest, but your price should match what a brand sees on your profile.
You sell a higher price with proof. A strong highlight video, good reviews, a high percentage of on-time delivery, and a quick response time show you're reliable. If you've linked ad results, brands can also see how ads with your content perform. For many brands, that weighs more than a few euros difference.
Brands also pay attention to what's in your package. A clear Premium package with more videos, extra hooks, and extras like editing or raw content makes your more expensive offer understandable. Show the difference between your packages clearly.
A Custom Package for Larger Assignments
Sometimes a brand wants something that doesn't fit into your standard packages. For example, five videos, a different length, or a faster delivery time. Then send a custom package in the chat. You choose the number of videos, hooks, and revisions, the delivery time, and the price.
For larger assignments, you can charge slightly less per video than for a single video because you only set up your set once. But don't go too far: more videos also mean more editing work and more communication.
Are you responding to a job? Then include your own price proposal with your pitch. Look closely at what the brand is asking for and base your price on that, rather than automatically quoting your cheapest package. If the job requires more videos or hooks than your Basic package, factor that into your proposal.
Earn More Without More Hours
Your rate is one side. The other side is how efficiently you work. Creators with a fixed workflow, a dedicated recording space, and subtitle templates can produce more videos in the same time.
Additionally, your ranking determines how many assignments you get. Delivering on time and responding quickly boosts you higher in search results. More visibility means more requests, and more requests give you the space to be more selective and raise your price.
‘Better ten assignments for a fair price than one assignment for a top price’ is a healthy mindset at the start. First, build a track record and let your price grow with it.
